tg As we loaded up the van, all I could think was Is it time to go yet? We finally loaded up the van with suitcases and the crying dog, and then we set off to Alabama. In the middle of the night everyone in the van was asleep except for me. I kept closing my eyes, but they wouldn't stay shut. We finally arrived the next day. I was relieved when the van ride was over.
That night, my grandma made an awesome meal of kielbasa, blackeyed peas, and tomatoes. It was one of the best meals of my life. Everyone said my brothers and I grew so much!
The next day we went to a place called Flat Rock. We all had a picnic and went swimming. I couldn't go swimming because I had an ear infection. I thought about jumping in, but I didn't.
Our sightseeing didn't end there. We went to Cheaha Mountain. I was thrilled as I ran up the lookout post stairs, but all were disappointed when we couldn't see anything because of the fog. Since we couldn't see anything, we decided to go on the tourist trail to Bald Rock where the view is beautiful. When we came down the mountain, we went to Cheaha Lake. My brothers jumped off a platform while I went on a paddleboat with my dad. After that, I caught a little brown lizard which I ended up throwing on my grandma."Carter, get that thing off me!"she said in a strong southern accent.
While we were packing up to leave, I was glum because I never really get to see my grandma and grandpa. I knew I was going to my cousin Lee's house, but it was still sad. As we pulled out of the driveway for the last time, I knew I just had one of best weeks of my life.
